Professional floor grinders and floor grinding machines for concrete, screed and stone from Tyrolit – the right system solution comprising machine and tool for every requirement.
Whether it’s surface preparation on large construction sites or floor refurbishment in existing buildings — Tyrolit floor grinders and floor grinding machines are designed for professional use on concrete, screed and stone floors. The range extends from handy compact machines for edge areas and medium-sized surfaces to high-performance professional machines for large-scale grinding and polishing. Ergonomic controls, detachable machine parts and quick-change systems minimise the effort required on site. Combined with the company’s own diamond tools Every machine from Tyrolit delivers consistently first-class results — from a natural, rough concrete surface to a high-gloss terrazzo finish.
The grinding width is the key selection criterion: it determines how much surface area is processed per pass, and thus directly influences the cost-effectiveness of the operation. Tyrolit offers two clearly distinct machine classes. Compact floor grinders with a grinding width of 280 to 450 mm operate on the single-grinding-head principle. They can be set up and dismantled quickly, are easy to transport and are particularly suitable for small to medium-sized areas as well as for edge areas, where the detachable motor and removable extraction housing allow for flush-to-wall operation. Professional floor grinders with planetary drive — including the FGE515 with a maximum grinding width of 515 mm and the FGE780 with a maximum grinding width of 780 mm — are designed for large-scale substrate preparation and intensive refurbishment projects. Their innovative drive system, featuring 3 or 4 rotating grinding discs, ensures consistent removal rates with minimal maintenance requirements.
Tyrolit floor grinders are designed for concrete, screed and stone. Concrete is the most common material used: the tool range includes metal-bonded diamond grinding shoes for different concrete strengths — from soft concrete and screed right through to very hard and extra-hard concrete. Screed floors are typically processed in several grinding passes using progressively finer grit sizes to remove unevenness and prepare the surface for sealing. Stone and terrazzo surfaces can be polished to a high gloss using resin- and ceramic-bonded grinding tools. The key to achieving the desired result is always the right combination of machine system, grinding tool bond and grit size — tailored to the concrete strength and the desired surface finish.
The Tyrolit range covers grinding widths from 280 mm to 780 mm. Compact models such as the FGE280 (280 mm) or the FGE400 (400 mm) are hand-held, easy to transport and ideal for edge work and smaller refurbishment projects. The FGE450 (450 mm) complements this range for medium-sized areas. In the professional range, the FGE515 impresses with a grinding width of up to 515 mm and detachable machine parts for quick set-up, available in either single-phase or three-phase versions. The flagship FGE780 achieves a grinding width of up to 780 mm with 15 kW of power and is designed for large-scale substrate preparation where maximum area coverage and minimum time expenditure are key.
During dry grinding, the dust produced is collected directly via a dust extraction system is collected — in the case of compact Tyrolit floor grinders via a removable extraction housing, and in the case of the FGE780 via an integrated extraction system. This enables clean working even in enclosed spaces. During wet grinding, water is supplied via a built-in water tank or an external water connection, which further minimises dust generation and improves tool life during certain grinding processes on very hard concrete. Which mode is the right one depends on the substrate, the tool used and the working conditions. Tyrolit floor grinders are designed for both operating modes.
Tyrolit offers a complete range of coordinated grinding and polishing tools for concrete and stone floors — from metal-bonded diamond grinding pads for the rough grinding ranging from resin-bonded tools for intermediate grinding to ceramic-bonded pads for the final polishing stage. The tools are designed for the Tyrolit machine range are designed to be compatible with these machines, but can also be used on floor grinders from other manufacturers.
FGE780 — The most powerful model in the range: up to 780 mm grinding width, 15 kW, planetary drive with 3 or 4 discs, digital control panel, integrated water tank and extraction system. Available as a self-propelled or remote-controlled version — ideal for demanding large-scale projects.
FGE515 — A professional all-rounder: max. 515 mm, machine parts that can be dismantled for quick transport and assembly, available in either 1-phase or 3-phase versions. The right choice when professional performance and compactness are required.
FGE280 — The specialist for edge areas: 280 mm grinding width, quick-change tool system, removable motor, detachable extraction housing for flush grinding. Indispensable as a supplementary machine in a system set-up.
Tyrolit has been in business since 1919 and combines three strengths in its floor grinding machines that are available individually but rarely found together: firstly, a complete system comprising a machine and a matching diamond grinding tool, all from a single source; secondly, a range of machines that covers every requirement, from compact edge-grinding machines to 15 kW professional machines with remote control; thirdly, many years of practical expertise in floor grinding, which is reflected in every product detail — from ergonomic guide brackets to the innovative gear concept with planetary drive. Maintenance and repair for Tyrolit machines are handled via the global dealer and service network.
