The importance of grinding tools for turbochargers

In the manufacture of turbocharger components, grinding tools are used for various parts of the turbocharger. The main components that are ground include

+
Turbine and compressor wheels: These wheels are crucial for the performance of the turbocharger. They are made from high-strength materials such as steel or aluminium alloys and must be precisely ground to ensure optimum aerodynamic properties. Grinding these wheels improves their surface quality and geometry to maximise airflow efficiency.
+
Adjustable guide vanes: The shafts of the adjustable guide vanes are attached to a carrier ring. The entire shaft and the flat side of the guide vane are ground.
+
Housing: The housing of the turbocharger, both for the turbine and for the compressor, is also ground to ensure a precise fit and seal. This helps to prevent leaks and maximise the efficiency of the turbocharger.
+
Bearing surfaces: The bearing surfaces on which the turbine and compressor wheels of the turbocharger are mounted must also be ground to enable low-friction rotation. This improves the service life of the bearings and contributes to the overall performance of the turbocharger.

Our grinding tools are therefore used in the manufacture of turbochargers to optimise the surface quality, accuracy of fit and performance of the individual components.
